![]() ![]() It’s a popular destination for not only sightseeing, but many a romantic interlude. Besides having the best 360-degree view of Manhattan, on a clear day, visitors can see New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Empire State Building Observatory is Manhattan’s #1 tourist attraction, with 4 million visitors each year. The Empire State Building Light Show series features light displays synchronized with iHeart music stations. In 2012, this tradition became even more dramatic with the installation of a computerized LED light system capable of displaying and instantaneously changing 16 million lights. Since 1976, the building’s colored lights have been used to recognize various events, holidays, occasions, and organizations. It is the world’s 3 rd most “Instagrammed” landmark, being posted well over 1.5 million times since 2013. The image of the Empire State Building is instantly recognized across the globe. Its distinctive silhouette and design, indelibly etched into the city’s skyline, is a triumphant symbol of New York City’s success, allure, and promise. Remaining one of Manhattan’s tallest and most beautiful art deco skyscrapers, it also represents the power, style, and romance of New York City like no other. ![]() Standing 1,453 feet tall, it is a symbol of man’s ability to achieve the impossible, becoming the world’s tallest building when it first opened in 1931. As for the tear jerker ending, Warren can't even come close to replicating the look on Cary Grant's face when he realizes the devastating truth about Deborah Kerr. The Empire State Building is more than its 10 million bricks, 730 tons of metal, 6,514 windows, 700,000 cubic feet of stone, 70 miles of pipe, and 103 floors. This movie is beyond real! The jazz vocal narrative is annoying and out of place. The chance that Beatty would have a little auntie (even if that auntie is Katherine Hepburn) living on a tropical island that just happens to be close to where the plane he was flying in makes an emergency landing, is too much of a coincidence even for a fairy tale. The taboo of engaged couples "cheating" on one another is stale and the premise that Bening selflessly gets on with her life after her accident is implausible in today's world. I was drawn to the movie because of Bening - I enjoy her other films, but this one is a mockery of her talent! The on-screen chemistry between her and Warren just isn't there. ![]() If you haven't seen the Beatty/Bening remake of An Affair to Remember - don't! This review is for readers who have seen the original and know the basic premise. ![]()
